Una de las aplicaciones que m�s se echa de menos en Linux es el Photoshop. Muchos son partidarios de Gimp, pero no me llevo bien con �l y no hace las cosas como quiero la mayor�a de las veces. Por otra parte, el Photoshop es una de las aplicaciones m�s dif�ciles de ejecutar en Linux, as� que me puse manos a la obra y finalmente consegu� correrlo en Linux; he aqu� como lo hice:

Para empezar, limpiemos el escenario de trabajo: si eres usuario de Debian con un apt-get remove --purge wine y un apt-get install wine ya tendr�s instalado Wine, el emulador de Windows para Linux, que nos servir� para correr las aplicaciones que deseemos, en este caso, el Photoshop. En caso contrario, tendr�s que bajarte el paquete de la p�gina oficial, descomprimirlo, e instalarlo ejecutando en el directorio creado ./configure && make && sudo make install.

Ahora toca irnos a Windows y, una vez all�, instalar el Photoshop normalmente. Una vez instalado, debemos de salvar la clave del registro de Windows que identifica al Photoshop para implementarla en Wine. Ejecuta regedit.exe y sit�ate en la clave:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{EFB21DE7-8C19-4A88-BB28-A766E16493BC}

En la vista de �rbol, bastar� un click derecho sobre ella y �exportar� para salvarla en un archivo .reg. Volvamos a Linux.

En Linux hemos de hacer dos cosas. Primero, accedemos a la partici�n de Windows, y copiamos la carpeta C:\Archivos de Programa\Adobe\ en ~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/.

Para implementar los datos del registro de Windows en Linux, tenemos que editar el archivo .reg obtenido, eliminando la primera l�nea y cambiando esta

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{EFB21DE7-8C19-4A88-BB28-A766E16493BC}]

por

[SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Uninstall\\{EFB21DE7-8C19-4A88-BB28-A766E16493BC}]

Una vez hecho el cambio, pegamos todo el contenido del nuevo archivo .reg al final del archivo ~/.wine/system.reg.

Y finalmente, para solucionar problemas de compatibilidad, ejecutamos winecfg, agregamos el photoshop.exe y seleccionamos el modo de compatibilidad para Windows 2000.

�Listo! Ya puedes correr Photoshop en Linux ejecutando ~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Adobe/Photoshop CS/Photoshop.exe.

Pasos a seguir para ejecutar Photoshop CS bajo Linux usando Wine

Una de las cosas que me frenaba a la hora de migrar a linux, era, como ya he dicho con anterioridad, la falta de versiones compatibles con linux de algunos de los programas que uso normalmente.

Existen numerosos recursos donde se comentan titulos bajo linux que sustituyen a conocidos programas usados bajo windows, como podria ser el caso de Gimp � Photoshop.

Es de este �ltimo del que tanto me cuesta desprenderme, no es que tenga nada en contra de Gimp, al contrario, pienso que es un gran programa hecho por y para la comunidad, pero la familiaridad que tengo con Photoshop, me costaria bastante lograrla con Gimp, con que se me ha metido en la cabeza utilizar Photoshop bajo linux, y a continuaci�n os explicare como lo he conseguido.

La versi�n de Photoshop que quiero usar es Photoshop CS y el sistema operativo Ubuntu Hoary.

Buscando un poco por la red, encontre este hilo en el sitio oficial de Wine, donde se dan un par de consejos que me ayudaron a encaminarme para hacerlo funcionar, aunque tuve que poner en practica algunas variaciones que os comentare.

Para empezar tendremos que instalar el Photoshop en una maquina con windows, una vez instalado, necesitamos exportar la clave

Antes de hacer ninguna modificaci�n al fichero de registro de wine, tendremos que editar el archivo que exportamos con la clave del registro y hacer unos cuantos cambios, os muestro como ha quedado el mio y os haceis una idea.

Editar vuestro propio fichero, si copiais el del ejemplo, no funcionara.

Una vez realizados todos los cambios, copiaremos todo al final del archivo system.reg, y para acabar editaremos el fichero de configuraci�n de wine para cambiar el modo de emulacion a win2k.

Ya solo nos queda crear un lanzador para ejecutar nuestro photoshop. La �nica pega que encuentro hasta el momento, es el tiempo que tarda en arrancar la aplicaci�n, pero una vez marcha el rendimiento es muy superior de cuando lo ejecutaba en esta misma maquina con windows xp

This HOW-TO covers up the whole process of installing Adobe Photoshop CS2 on a Ubuntu box in a few simple steps. This method has been tested only on Ubuntu, but it should work on any other linux flavor. Any questions or feedback leave them in the comments.

Photoshop CS2

- What you need?

* A fresh install of Ubuntu Dapper + all the updates
* A Windows box with a fully installed and activated version of Adobe Photoshop CS2

- Fire up a terminal session and type the next commands;

TIP: Instead of using apt-get, you can install them with the Synaptic Package Manager located in the System/Administration menu

* $ sudo apt-get update
* $ sudo apt-get install wine and then type �yes�
* $ sudo wine /*To create the wine file structure*/
* $ sudo apt-get install recode and then type �yes�

- Then you need to copy all the necessary files from the Windows box;

* Copy the whole Adobe folder from �c:\Program Files\� to �/home/YOURNAME/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/�

- Now you need to export the registry keys of the Adone Photoshop CS2;

* In your Windows box, type �regedit� in the command-line and export the whole �HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Adobe/� to �adobe.reg�.
* The next step is to copy that file to your Ubuntu box and convert it to the encoding of YOUR system. For example, if your Ubuntu box has as default charset ascii and your Windows box has ucs-2 then �$ recode ucs-2..ascii adobe.reg� would do the trick. After you converted your adobe.reg file, type �$ sudo wine regedit adobe.reg� to import it to wine.
* That�s it! Type �$ sudo wine �winver winxp �[path to Photoshop]/photoshop.exe� or create a launcher and enjoy Adobe Photoshop CS2 on Ubuntu

MAME EN UBUNTU

Entonces aqui va un mini how to para instalar MAME en Ubuntu!
1. Abres un terminal Aplicaciones > Accesorios > Terminal
2. cortas y pegas en el terminal

sudo apt-get install xmame-common

para instalar xmame

wget http://surfnet.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/gxmame/gxmame_0.35beta2-1_i386.deb

para bajar la interfaz gr�fica de xmame

sudo dpkg -i gxmame_0.35beta2-1_i386.deb

para instalar la interfaz grafica de xmame que acabas de bajar
3. creas en tu directorio una carpeta llamada xmame
si lo quieres hacer via terminal escribe

mkdir xmame

4. bajas algunos ROMS al directorio recien creado, los puedes bajar de aqu�:

5. Abres GXMAME en Aplicaciones > Juegos > GXMame, si no aparece ahi refresca el panel de gnome con la siguiente instrucci�n en el terminal

killall gnome-panel

Si a�n as� no aparece, ejecuta directamente en el terminal

gxmame

6. En GXMame vas a Opciones > Directorios > Rutas B�sicas de XMame y donde dice ROMSs Path agregas /home/tu_usuario/xmame/
Por ejemplo, en mi caso queda /home/suribe/xmame
7. Aceptas, refrescas y listo, en Disponibles deber�an aparecer todas las joyitas que el tiempo no puede borrar

About DirectX

Microsoft DirectX is a collection of application programming interfaces for handling tasks related to multimedia, especially game programming and video, on Microsoft platforms. Originally, the names of these APIs all began with Direct, such as Direct3D, DirectDraw, DirectMusic, DirectPlay, DirectSound, and so forth. DirectX, then, was the generic term for all of these Direct-something APIs, and that term became the name of the collection. Over the intervening years, some of these APIs have been deprecated and replaced, so that this naming convention is no longer absolute. In fact, the X has caught on to the point that it has replaced Direct as the common part in the names of new DirectX technologies, including XAct, XInput, and so forth.

Direct3D (the 3D graphics API within DirectX) is widely used in the development of computer games for Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Xbox, and Microsoft Xbox 360. Wine configuration

This is with a clean configuration directory and running in a 1024x768 virtual desktop.

$ winecfg

Once the .wine directory is built the configuration tool will start and you can set a virtual desktop in the graphics tab if you wish. This is a good time to also set your Audio driver in the Audio tab.

next up is to install a native mscoree.dll and streamci.dll into /system32 from a windows install and set then to native Windows.

Go to ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32 and rename d3d8, d3d9, ddraw, dsound, dsound.vxd, quartz dlls to *.bak

You will need to set a large number of dlls to native for the install to work properly. Here is the full list of dlls that need to be set.

Installing Directx

Download DirectX 9.0c November release from here.

The directx_nov2007_redist.exe executable will extract the installer files to a directory of your choice.

Now cd to the directory where you choose to extract the DirectX installer and run DXSETUP.EXE.

Run winecfg again and set d3d8, d3d9, ddrawex, dinut, dinput8 to builtin wine.

Now lets run dxdiag.exe

We can now test ddraw, ddraw 3D, D3D8, and D3D9

Direct Sound test:
Now we need to install gm.dls to test Direct Music, this driver file goes into ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32/drivers

Direct Play test:
You will notice in system32 d3dx9_24.dll up to d3dx9_36.dll is now installed, this really helps when you run into a game that needs these additional DirectX dlls.

Now you have the option to run most DirectX dlls in native or builtin mode, for example if you have a game that's crashing on the builtin Wine quartz.dll you can test the game with the native Windows dll to see if this will improve the situation.

Keep in mind d3d8, d3d9, ddraw will only work as builtin, and in most cases you should try to use builtin dsound and dinput. I have had limited success with (dsound and dinput) in native Windows mode btw... The reason why these dlls have to be used in builtin mode is there need for direct access to your hardware. direct music and direct play can be used in native windows mode in most circumstances.
